Discovery’s Acorn: Schools Tab
![]()
Schools
The School screen is configured in a similar way to the Connection screen. Again there are three main sections:
Schools Table The school table contains a list of schools for this Acorn installation, it may only contain one school, or if you have a district installation you could have any number of schools in this list.
Each school in the list indicates a school for which you have a valid license from Discovery Software. If there are no schools in your school table you will need to ensure that you have at least one valid license. Please contact our support department if you believe you have a license and do not know how to install it.
In the School Table each school will also have a corresponding icon indicating the setup status of the school.
: The success icon indicates that the school has been setup, and is ready for use.
: The loading icon indicates that some information is missing, and that this school has not been fully setup yet.
: The loading icon indicates that Acorn is in the midst of testing the school information, once the test succeeds or fails the icon should change to one of the others.
: The fail icon indicates that the school has all the required information but the test failed. This normally indicates that one of the parameters is incorrect. Try testing the connection again and look at the test results in the Settings section for more information.
Settings The school settings are based on the selected school. There are two basic parameters for the School page:
- License: Once a school is selected, information about the license and when it expires will be displayed. The date format is:
yyyy/mm/dd - Connection: This is a drop-down menu including all of the connections set up on the Connection page. Once you choose one, the rest of the parameters will be populated based on the information supplied for the connection.
Connection Drop-Down
Each bridge will have its own custom information in this section:
Test Click this button to test the parameters you have supplied, consult the bridge specific guide for more information on possible Test Results.
Export Folder Structure
The check box allow you to specify how Acorn manages the school output folders. If checked, Acorn will use the folder specified as the base folder. Acorn will then use a sub-folder named the same as the school license name as the output folder. If unchecked, the output folder will not be managed by Acorn and you will be able to specify a unique folder for each of your schools using the Output Folder section above.
Help
There are 2 icons in the bottom left corner, that may be of use:
Knowledge Base: The knowledge base is use-able only if you have an internet connection. Pressing this button will open a web browser to the appropriate knowledge base page based on the page you are on when you click this button.
User Guide: This button will open up a local copy of this user guide. Be aware that the knowledge-base may be more up to date than the user guide, as the user guide can only be as current as the version of Acorn that you are using.
