Principalm Update Service: Firewall Settings
After updating to iPhone Update Service using Principalm Connect you should be able to open Principalm+ on the iPhone and on the Sync/Download screen see your computer listed.
If the user profile name, and update date are in light grey, this means that your iPhone can see your computer, but is having trouble connecting.
One of the causes for this is if you have your windows firewall turned on.
These steps may provide the solution:
The first time you update to the iPhone Update Service using Principalm Connect you may see this message:

Please ensure that the application Name: is “Principalm Update Service” if so, then you must choose Unblock in order for the iPhone to have access to download your data.
To verify that you have the correct settings please do the following: Windows XP:
- On the computer where you are running Principalm Connect, go to Start->Control Panel->Windows Firewall
- Click on the General tab.
- If your firewall is On please continue, if the firewall is Off this is not your problem and you will need to try some other troubleshooting tips.
- Click on the Exceptions tab.
- You should see something similar to the image below, we need to ensure that there is a check-mark beside the Principalm Update Service

- If you do not see Principalm Update Service you should click Add Program and browse to: C:\Users[user]\AppData\Roaming\Principalm Connect Where [user] is the name of the user you are logged in as.
- Click Open, then Apply
- This should fix your issue.
Notes: Bonjour Services may also have been added to the Windows Firewall Exceptions, but this can either be blocked or unblocked it does not appear to have any influence on the connection to the iPhone Service.
