iPhone: Connect via different subnet
Principalm Connect 7.6.1.6 now generates this link for your reference everytime you update your card for iPhone. It will appear at the top of the Update Device page once your card update has completed
Before you begin make sure you have downloaded the newest version of the Principalm app on your iPhone (or iPad, iPod Touch); and have run Principalm Connect and updated to the iPhone Update Service.
In order to connect to the Principalm Update Service over a different subnet, click the Sync button then choose Link. The Link page gives you the ability to directly connect to an available data set on your host computer or web server
Sample
principalm://[IP Address]:[Port Number]/[Directory]/
Example:
principalm://74.125.127.10:8080/_default_/
Once you have entered the URL for the host computer, click Download Data, your data should begin downloading.
Gathering Information
- IP Address of the machine running Princpalm Connect: 74.125.127.103 <– this is an example, and is the ip address for google.com, so will not be valid.
- Port Number that the Principalm Update Service is running on: 8080 most likely 8080, but may be another port, check this Knowledge Base article to find the server logs: Server Logs
- Profile Directory that the Principalm Update Service is using: _default_ This is based on the profile id for the specific user profile that you ran the update for, also found in the server log: Server Logs
Updating Data on your iPhone
You can continue to use the same link to update the data on your iPhone as long as:
- Your ip address of the machine running Principalm Connect does not change
- The computer running Principalm Connect is not turned off, or logged off; If it is shut down or logged off, just re-run the update, and your link should work.
If the link ceases to work for any reason, just rebuild the card using Principalm Connect.
