Virtualization Settings
Settings for Parallels, VMware or similar virtualization software
When running Principalm Connect using virtualization software you may experience difficulty connecting to Principalm on iPhone.
You will need to ensure that your network adapter is set to use Bridged Networking, and not Shared Networking in order for your iPhone to communicate with the Principalm Update Service.
Below you can find instructions on how to set these values using common virtualization software:
Parallels
- Inside the Parallels window where you are running your virtualization, select Devices->Network Adapter 1->Configure from the menu:
Configure Network Adapter
- From the Virtual Machine Configuration:
- Click on the Hardware tab.
- Under type select the appropriate Bridged Networking choice.
- Click OK
Virtual Machine Configuration
You can now start the Principalm Update Service using Principalm Connect. Once the service is started you should now be able to see your computer using Principalm on iPhone.
VMware Player (Windows)
- Inside the VMware window where you are running your virtualization, select Devices->Network Adapter->Bridged from the menu
VMware Fusion (Mac)
- Inside the VMware window where you are running your virtualization, select Devices->Network Adapter from the menu
Configure Network Adapter
- Choose Connect directly to the physical network (Bridged)
Known Issues:
You can run an instance of Principalm Update Service on the virtualized OS, as well as the native OS, but we have noticed that in some cases you can only see the native computer using Principalm on iPhone. You can still connect to the virtualized service using direct access of the subnet.
