Known Issues
These are the known issues with Principalm version 7.5, which is the current version:
Principalm
Android
- The Name Game is not yet available. This will be investigated in a future release.
- You are not able to set a default phone prefix (ie, *67). This will be investigated in a future release.
- District Search is not available.
iPhone
- If you are running Principalm Connect on a Macintosh, OS X 10.5 or later is required to build to an iPhone OS device (note that you can build to an iPhone OS device on Windows OS as well). This will be investigated in a future release.
- If you are running Principalm Connect on Windows 7, you must run it as an Administrator. From your Start Menu, right click on Principalm Connect and select Run as administrator.
- You are not able to set a default phone prefix (ie, *67). This will be investigated in a future release.
- You are always brought back to the main search screen in Principalm; it does not remember where you last were and bring you back to that screen. This will be investigated in a future release.
- Principalm will always be viewed in portrait mode. The ability to switch into landscape mode will be investigated for a future release.
- The Name Game is not yet available. This will be investigated in a future release.
- Scanners are not supported with Principalm on iPhone OS devices.
- The iPhone Update Service will run from the time you update using Principalm Connect until your computer is shut down or you update again with Principalm Connect (at which point a the prior service would be shut down and then a new service invoked).
- You are unable to view custom field names that have about 20 or more characters. This will be corrected in a future release.
- In Principalm Connect on Windows when updating for iPhone, some customers will not see their correct computer name in the text describing what do to next. This is caused by a registry setting not being set as we expected. This will be corrected in the next release of Principalm Connect.
- In order to update your data you must log out of Principalm (if you currently have it open on your device), then follow the update steps here. We will investigate this in a future release of Principalm.
BlackBerry
- You may not see recent student grades in the Grades & Attendance screen. You can see all of the student grades by selecting a class then Grade Details. This will be investigated in a future Principalm release.
- Older BlackBerry devices (ie 8300 series) will experience a longer than expected delay loading Grades & Attendance. This will be investigated in a future release of Principalm. (Other causes may be due to: type and speed of memory card, speed of BlackBerry device, size of dataset).
- If you have multiple schools in Principalm you will notice a slight delay while navigating between schools. This will be investigated in a future release of Principalm. (Delay times will vary between datasets).
- While in the Classes screen you can see the teacher, you are not able to see the Teacher’s schedule. This will be investigated in a future release of Principalm. * On BlackBerry devices, if you have multiple schools you will always be brought to data in the first school (even if you were looking at another school’s data last). This will be investigated in a future release of Principalm.
- You cannot use the “Install Now” link on the touch screen BlackBerry devices. This will be investigated in a future release.
- On some BlackBerry Tour devices you are not able to select the download links. Please contact support for the workaround and to investigate this further.
- District Search is not available.
Palm
- Multiple years’ worth of attendance data causes some Palms to crash. Delete your import folder contents, and use Rebuild Local Database at the start of the year to avoid this issue.
- Some Zire 31 devices go back to sleep if you insert the Principalm card while the device is asleep – other Palms wake up for this, as they should.
- Downgrading from later version of Principalm to Principalm 7.1 causes a temporary cosmetic glitch in the pop-up keyboard on the login screen.
- You may notice that Classes and or Conduct is not available. This may be caused by your Principalm license, specifically that the license does not include these modules. Please contact Discovery Support if you are unsure of what your license includes.
- District Search is not available.
Windows Mobile
- Ejecting the Principalm memory card while the RFID scanner is running causes an error message to be shown, the error message is harmless.
- Scrolling popup lists on Pocket PC don’t respond to the stylus for scrolling purposes.
- You may notice that Classes and or Conduct is not available. This may be caused by your Principalm license, specifically that the license does not include these modules. Please contact Discovery Support if you are unsure of what your license includes.
- Principalm login issues have been reported on various Windows Mobile devices. We have a workaround for this issue, please contact Discovery Support for further instructions.
- District Search is not available.
Principalm Connect
Macintosh
- Mac Connect can’t enter Debug mode.
Windows
- In rare cases, while importing over a Novell network, Principalm Connect may crash, the workaround is to copy the files off of the network before importing them.
- At this time unc paths are not supported. If your datasets/photos are located on the server, please map a drive to the server and specify that location in Connect.
- If you are running Sophos anti-virus, you may encounter an issue where Principalm Connect freezes after start-up, see this knowledge base article for more information: Principalm Connect starts but freezes after startup.
