Requirements for Principalm
Desktop Requirements
You will need a desktop computer for loading Principalm onto your device. Please refer to Requirements for Principalm Connect.
Android (Android Tablets are supported)
- An Android OS device, running version 1.6 or higher.
- Principalm+ for Android, available from the Android Market. The app is free from the app store and you can demo the product using the included sample data.
- Principalm Connect version 7.6.2.0 or later is required to upload data from your computer to the SD card used by your device.
- A memory card that fits the Android, that is large enough to hold your student information. Please refer to Memory Card Recommendations below.
- Wireless sync is also supported. Principalm Connect version 7.6.2.0 or later is required to sync data from your computer to the Principalm service. Instructions to sync can be found here
Principalm+ for Android supports the following modules: Contacts, Classes (Grades + Attendance) and Conduct.

Apple iOS (iPhone, iPad & iPod Touch)
- An iPhone, iPad or iPod touch device.
- A WiFi (802.11) network (required for data sync)
- Principalm+ for iPhone, available from the Apple iTunes App Store. The app is free from the app store and you can demo the product using the included sample data.
- Principalm Connect version 7.5.0.8 or later is required to sync data from your computer to the Principalm service.
Principalm+ for iOS supports the following modules: Contacts, Classes (Grades + Attendance) and Conduct.

BlackBerry (Blackberry Playbook supported)
- BlackBerry OS 4.3 – 7. Please refer to RIM’s list of handhelds for detailed product information.
- A memory card that fits the BlackBerry, that is large enough to hold your student information. Please refer to Memory Card Recommendations below.
- Wireless sync is supported on Blackberry Playbook devices. Principalm Connect version 7.6.2.0 or later is required to sync data from your computer to the Principalm service. Instructions to sync can be found here
- Principalm+ for BlackBerry supports the following modules: Contacts, Classes (Grades + Attendance) and Conduct.
Palm
- Principalm requires Palm OS 5.
- Web OS (ie. Palm Pre ) is not supported.
- Please refer to [Palm's list of handhelds] or this older page: Palm OS versions (2004) for detailed product information.
- The device must have a memory card slot. The Zire 22 (Z22) has no memory card slot, so it is incompatible with Principalm.
- A memory card that fits the Palm, that is large enough to hold your student information. Please refer to Memory Card Recommendations below. Please also refer to Palm’s card size and type compatibility chart for exact specifications for your device.
- Principalm+ for Palm supports the following modules: Contacts, Classes (Grades + Attendance) and Conduct.
Windows Mobile
- Windows Mobile 2003 – 6.1 OR SmartPhone 2005. Please refer to Microsoft’s list of phones and devices for detailed product information. Generic Windows CE devices, i.e. Windows CE devices whose operating system is not packaged as “Windows Mobile” are not supported.
- A memory card that fits the device, that is large enough to hold your student information. See Memory Card Recommendations below.
- Principalm+ for Windows supports the following modules: Contacts, Classes (Grades + Attendance) and Conduct.
Memory Card Recommendations
Types of Cards
Principalm will run on any card that will fit into the card slot of your handheld device. MMC, SD, and Memory Stick are all supported, as well as anything else that can be written to by your PC and read from your handheld. SD cards are recommended instead of MMC cards due to durability and performance.
Performance
There is a wide margin between the performance of various cards, because of the speed at which they transfer data. In general, we have found that larger cards are faster than those with smaller capacities, even if made by the same company.
Card performance is also governed by the speed of the card slot on the handheld device. In general, newer devices have better performing card slots.
Also keep in mind that a memory card will typically be used for storing other files from your handheld or desktop computer, so a larger card is preferable in most cases.
Minimum Size Required
These are the approximate maximum numbers of students you can fit on each type of card. Depending on your data you may get different results.
